  • Implo will be hosting visitors at the IEEE Power Engineering Society ESMO 2006 conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, October 16 - 19, 2006. This conference is hosted by the Power Service Company of New Mexico. Samples of implosive sleeve connectors and other products used for special connection applications and made from dissimilar materials will be showcased. On October 17 and 19, Implo will carry out an outdoor demonstration of a live installation of an implosive splice. If you are interested in seeing this up close, please be sure to attend this important conference.

  • In May, Implo was at the IEEE Transmission & Distribution Power Engineering Society Conference in Dallas, Texas.  Among the products showcased were the XECONEXTM implosive connector for high voltage transmission lines, the PowerFoilTM copper aluminum diffusion barrier, and other special types of connectors such as copper to steel grounding pads and copper grounding grid connectors.

  • In May, 2006, the IEEE Show Daily published an article about how AEP enabled environmental impact mitigation to be effectively applied on the construction of its 765 kV transmission line by using implosive splices. Click here to read the article.

  • On May 8, 2006, Implo enjoyed the honour of being an invited guest at the inaugural dedication ceremonies of  AEP's new six-bundle 765 kV transmission line running from Wyoming, West Virginia to Jackson Ferry, Virginia.  American Electric Power is the owner/operator of this line and hosted this high profile event in West Virginia. This is the first six-bundle high voltage transmission line in North America, and the first time that implosive connectors have been used on a line of this capacity. These splices expedited the stringing operation by enabling all six lines to be pulled through the stringing blocks. This feature enabled this project to be constructed faster and with less disruption to the environment. A live demonstration of the installation of an implosive sleeve was carried out.
